What Is a DA63T + Jimny Build?

Your Suzuki Carry DA63T retains its factory chassis and identity. We graft on proven Jimny/Samurai running gear — solid front axle, 4x4 drivetrain, transfer case, and differentials — integrated through custom fabrication and chassis reinforcement. The result: a genuine kei truck with real Jimny 4x4 capability underneath, not a frame swap.

This is chassis modification and drivetrain integration — the hardest kind of build, done right. Your DA63T keeps its VIN, registration identity, and original character. It gains the off-road running gear that built the Jimny’s worldwide reputation.

Stock Kei trucks are proper 4x4s — proven on trails, farms, and backcountry roads worldwide. This build is the next tier up: a serious off-road rig with lifted coilover suspension, aggressive 16" tires, steel bumpers, and winch-ready hardware. Built for rock crawlers, technical trail riders, and anyone who wants their Kei to go where nothing else fits.

Build Specifications

Every build is fabricated to a common hardware spec. Colours, tire brand, and optional upgrades are yours to pick.

1 Base Vehicle + Drivetrain Source

  • Base Vehicle — Suzuki Carry DA63T (2011 or older, Canadian import compliant)Your truck’s chassis, identity, and registration stay intact.
  • Drivetrain Source — Jimny/Samurai running gearAxles, transfer case, differentials, driveshafts, and suspension components grafted on through custom fabrication.

2 Drivetrain Integration

  • Jimny/Samurai solid front axle fitted to the DA63T chassisCustom mounts and crossmember work — no frame swap.
  • Full Jimny/Samurai 4x4 driveline: transfer case, front and rear differentials, driveshaftsIntegrated with the DA63T structure through engineered mounts.
  • Manual locking front hubsPhysically engaged. Genuine 4x4 control, not an electronic nanny.
  • Multiple transfer case gearing optionsChoose the low-range ratio that matches your use: rock crawling, trail cruising, or highway-biased.
  • Manual or automatic transmission optionsYour call. Talk it through with us during consultation.

3 Suspension & Chassis Work

  • 4-link suspension, front and rearFabricated and mounted to the reinforced DA63T chassis for articulation and control.
  • Coil springs, front and rearMaximum wheel travel and articulation — tires stay planted where a leaf-sprung truck would lift.
  • Chassis reinforcement and crossmember additionsEngineered bracing at critical mount points for the wider Jimny running gear.
  • Proper suspension geometry built from the ground upNot a lifted body or block kit — driveshaft angles, steering angles, and bump-stop travel all set correctly.

4 Wheels & Tires

  • 16-inch wheels sized for Jimny hubsBolt pattern and offset matched to the Jimny/Samurai chassis.
  • All-terrain tires (customer choice)Pick your brand and tread aggression. We’ll recommend based on your use case.

Already Own a DA63T?

We can build on your existing truck — retain your vehicle identity while gaining full Jimny 4x4 capability.

Full Build — We Source Donors

We source the DA63T and Jimny/Samurai donors through our Japan network, then build the complete custom from scratch. You take delivery of a finished, registered truck.

Ideal for: customers who want zero logistics and a fully-built turnkey vehicle.

Build on Your Truck

You already own a DA63T and want Jimny 4x4 capability integrated into your existing vehicle. We handle the drivetrain integration, chassis work, and suspension fabrication while your DA63T retains its identity, VIN, title, and registration.

Ideal for: current DA63T owners who want real 4x4 capability without buying a second vehicle.

Both options produce the same finished capability. Contact us to discuss which path fits your situation.

About These Images

The photos shown represent concept designs for our DA63T + Jimny/Samurai build program. Actual delivered trucks will vary in color, tire choice, visible hardware placement, and trim specifics based on donor vehicle condition and customer specifications.

Manual locking front hubs, 4-link coil suspension, and all drivetrain components described in our specifications are standard on every build and will be visibly present on your finished vehicle.

FAQ

How much does a custom build cost?
Each build is unique. Starting costs depend on donor vehicle availability and your spec choices. Contact us for a detailed quote.
Can you build on my existing DA63T?
Yes. If you already own a DA63T, we can integrate the Jimny/Samurai running gear onto your truck rather than sourcing a new donor. Your vehicle keeps its original VIN, title, and registration — we just add the 4x4 capability. Contact us for a consultation on your specific truck.
Can I supply my own Jimny for the drivetrain source?
Yes. Customer-supplied Jimny/Samurai donors are welcome if they meet our mechanical standards. We inspect the donor before accepting it for the build.
How long is the waitlist?
Build slots are limited. Current lead time is 4–6 months from deposit. Contact us for current slot availability.
Is this street legal in North America?
Yes. Because your DA63T retains its original chassis and VIN, this is classified as vehicle modification — not a frame swap or re-identification. We provide full import documentation, build certification describing the modifications performed, and VIN registration support. Requirements vary by jurisdiction — Canadian provinces and US states each have their own rules. We’ll guide you through your region’s specific requirements.
Is my DA63T’s VIN and registration affected?
No. Because we modify and reinforce your existing chassis rather than swapping to a different frame, your DA63T retains its original VIN, title, and registration identity. The modifications are documented in our build certification letter, which your registrar (provincial or state) can reference during inspection.
Why the Jimny/Samurai as the donor chassis?
The JA11 is the most proven, most supported, and most capable Jimny generation for off-road builds. Parts availability is strong, the solid front axle design is robust, and it’s the platform that built the Jimny’s worldwide off-road reputation.
Why coil springs instead of leaf springs?
Coil suspension delivers far greater wheel travel and articulation than leaf springs. Combined with a 4-link setup front and rear, the build flexes over terrain that would have a leaf-sprung truck lifting tires off the ground. It’s a real capability difference, not just a comfort upgrade.
What makes this different from other lift kits?
Standard lift kits raise the body or springs without changing drivetrain or geometry. Our build is different — we retain your DA63T’s chassis and identity, then integrate Jimny/Samurai running gear (solid front axle, 4x4 drivetrain, transfer case) through custom fabrication and chassis reinforcement. Combined with 4-link coil suspension front and rear, you’re getting genuine Jimny off-road capability built into your kei truck. It’s a capability build, not a cosmetic one.
What’s the warranty?
We warranty our fabrication and mechanical work for 12 months or 20,000 km. Donor vehicle components carry their as-sold condition.
Do you ship across North America?
Yes. We arrange vehicle transport to your location anywhere in Canada or the continental US. Shipping cost depends on destination.
Can you build something other than a DA63T + Jimny combo?
DA63T + Jimny/Samurai is our specialty. Other combinations (Hijet, Acty, Sambar) may be possible for experienced builds — contact us to discuss.
